Thanks to everyone for birthday wishes! I've been so absent I didn't really expect anyone to say anything. *loves you all* I have an enormous tree (4ft or so bonsai for my collection), a dalek mask (it makes my voice into a dalek's, how cool is that?) and many, many books. Oh! Also Takin' Over the Asylum which I hadn't realised was out on DVD at long last until the other week. Thank you David Tennant, for getting a job high profile enough to interest people in your old stuff. So yes, cake, trees, daleks, and I get to be the answer for the next 12 months. That's me happy.

One link that I saw in a couple of places on my flist today and thought was worth spreading around: Fandom Appreciation Challenge. What a great idea, 7 days of different feedback challenges. I've done today's, fb left for some of the spn_j2_bigbang fics I've read so far, though I have many more both to read and comment on.

Speaking of spn_j2_bigbang, I have a huge file open with recs I'm writing (well, editing, as I sent a rough list to a friend who has survived reading my stuff so it probably ready for something decent by now *g*) but I do have to say right now that Before It All There Was Them has the hottest threesome scene I've read in a very long time, possibly ever. Gnnnuggghhhhhhhhhuhhhh. Yes. (Chapter seven, I think, and it's Jensen/Chris/Steve with cross-dressing. I KNOW. And yet I have read the entire thing about fifteen times so far despite the way it scorches my eyeballs and makes me dizzy.)

So mostly I've been in one of those mad reading frenzies for the last week or two. Please god it lasts me through the next couple of Big Bang fests to post because I just haven't felt like devouring fic in this way for what seems like forever, and I am enjoying it. Also been feeling crappy and probably just slumping into veggieness in general after doing lots of stuff for the last few months. Interacting as in real conversation has been tricky, but I think I'm vaguely getting the hang of it again.

I've written a couple of short things, one teensy Hornblower and one BtVS, but they are really short. I'm counting it a victory over my brain just the same, since I have so much unfinished stuff here. Gah.

Hmmm, what else... we go on holiday on August 8th, I'm reliably informed, so you have about a week if you decide you want a postcard - go here to fill the poll in. baisemoibien, I have no clue about 90% of the characters you mention, so I'm not sure what to suggest... list me some fandoms in a comment and I'll tell you if I have a clue about them, maybe? That might work.

Thanks to people who offered to take plants off my hands too -- I'll send them out wednesday with any luck, so look out for them.

Life After Death, by anon, Snape/Remus. Lovely non-fluffy stuff, with grudging sex, and the dingy house, and oh. Yeah, lots of buttons pushed here.

Goat Song, by anon, Snape/Aberforth. What an amazing pairing, and the fic is really something special. Definitely up there at the top of my reads from the fest along with the Sirius/Ron written for me. Wow.

Shadowmancers, by anon, Sirius/James, hints of Sirius/Regulus lust. I know I'm a real sucker for James/Sirius, but wow. This is incredibly hot by anyone's reckoning. Definitely warmed up my Christmas!

Loose Ends, by anon, Snape/Lockhart. I never seem to find the time to look for more fic of this pairing, but this is the sort of fic that makes me want to try a lot harder. Lovely.

So, on a totally different subject: Sirius/Harry/Ron. WHERE IS IT ALL? Someone must have written it, right? Why have I never seen it?

Second, I still don't have time (I think?) to finish the recs post, but I *can't* wait any longer to encourage you to go and read the Smutmas story written for me - Sirius/Ron with some Sirius/Regulus too, and utterly, utterly wonderful! I don't have a good record on guessing my writers at the best of times, but this time I don't even know where to start. Maybe I should read it another time or ten? Oh, such a hardship *g* Seriously, unless you have an incest squick, read.

Also, on a non-HP note, if you have any interest in Supernatural RPS at all, or even just love fics that make us laugh at ourselves: Common Knowledge (Jared/Jensen) by elucreh. Oh god. I'm not sure when I last laughed so much. Conventions, fangirls, actors finding fic, the mysterious language of 'elljay' to outsiders... there's so much here. Definitely a keeper, and if it's not the first thing I turn to on a miserable day I'll be very surprised. *loves*
